The Belchen has been a certified ski resort since 2010

What does the rating certified ski resort mean?

The rating CERTIFIED SKI RESORT (German: PGS) was introduced during the 2009/2010 season.

Awarding the rating aims to make skiing in German territories even safer and to provide a valuable guide. The excellent condition of the slopes and the lifts is therewith guaranteed. An applicant for the PGS must have their ski resort tested. All slopes are scrutinized and subjected to a locally customized, comprehensive catalog of five categories of criteria. The collected data is analyzed and concludes with a recommendation made by the review committee. If all the criteria are fulfilled or any defects detected eliminated, the rating is awarded for the period of three years. Compliance with the test criteria will be monitored during this period.

This is an initiative of the Foundation Safety in Skiing (SIS), the German Skiing Association (DSV) and DSV active / Ski lovers (FdS) in cooperation with the Association of German Cableways and lifts (VDS).

Experience the Belchen winter.

Over 100 years ago the first snow athletes conquered the Belchen summit. Here was the starting point of the legendary cross-country runs via the Wiedener Eck to the Feldberg. Since then the Belchen has been a popular winter sport area. The historic Belchen downhill from Belchenhaus to Schönau (8 kilometers distance) is a classic.

The Expo Skyliner gondolas of the Belchen cableway make it possible to explore four perfectly prepared slopes of up to 4.5 kilometers in length.

Regardless of which of the runs you choose: The start is always directly at the top cable station at 1,356 meters above sea level at the historic Belchenhaus.

Choose the "Kaltwasser run" and enjoy demonstrating your expertise in the funnel. Or do you prefer the more relaxed variant of a more gentle leisurely slope? How about the "Danube wave run" the attraction of the ski resort? More than three kilometers downwards to Obermulten. The ski runs' degree of difficulty range from easy to moderate. This means that beginners and children also feel welcomed at the Belchen. Traversing an altitude difference of 262 meters, all ski runs lead directly to the lower cable station. You will find another inn here. Learn the latest skiing techniques at ski and snowboard schools (Christiane Tel; Bernie Tel).
